Is there some kind of software that will let me control my CPU fan going nuts everytime i open a webpage, check my mail, apply a skin etc... Its a fairly l new PC with 2 gigs of ram and 3.4 dual core Intel.

When I bought it a lot of the testemonials mentioned the fan being noisy .. they were right, I wouldnt care if it werent so noisy.

I have changed the bios setting for the fan from constant 3500 rpm ( default ) to ( i forget the setting ) only when it "needs" it. It still starts up anytime I do anything.. I have noticed the cooler I keep my room temperature the less the fan comes on.

Id like to be able to control it via software to only be used so much when rendering or cpu intesive operations.

It's driving me nuts... anyone got any suggestions on software or some other remedy?

What would one use if the PC is a small form factor setup with a P4 2.4 GHz?

Question tho... My fan is making zero noise now and my temp is staying under 50C, Do i even need it?

50c is really cool for that CPU! I see that CarGuy1 already replied.

2.4GHz P4's should not get that hot and they may not need those extra cooling.

Well if I knew you were looking for a fan - I have one here - it is a Binford 9000 - runs for about 3 hours on a tank of gas and there is a complimentary blast shield that is included.

here's another site, john. i deal with them a lot. since you're in florida, you may get cheaper shipping costs, too. i put the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro on lots of machines for customers and have never had a complaint or problem with any of them. personally, i use thermalright heatsinks but the ac units are very good.

I run an AMD Athlon 3200 with 2GB of ram and a Thermaltake Volcano 12 heatsink and fan.
Probably one of the noisiest out there, I'm told it sounds like a helicopter in the room. When you get my age you have the ultimate answer to heatsink fan noise....going deaf.

I have a 40 GB Samsung hard drive that would give any CPU fan a run for it's money for noise...
