35 years

1 to 2 packs a day

Average of 1.75 packs a day

Tried hypnosis ..worked for 6 months

Tried the patch ...smoked with it and ended up in ER

Tried gum, chantix, acupuncture, etc etc

Talk about quitting or even think about it and I have to light up. Guarantee I will smoke 2 to 2.5 packs a day for a week.

Yesterday, November 1st 2012 at 10:30pm....one whole week, smoke free, cold turkey. Eating everything in sight and then some.

LOL.....good luck, Noah!  You can do eet!!

Like most things in life Po you will be able to stop when you want to stop, not before.  Just my personal opinion mind you but it's more than likely why folks do have a hard time attempting to stop smoking.  I smoked, not all that long mind you 12 or 13 years while in the Military.  I was able to quite and finished my career as a non-smoker.  Now drinking.....well that was a whole nother problem.

Best of luck Noah!!  We're here for you!!!

Good luck!

Here's a couple of early positives you can hopefully focus on which you might already be having:

Isn't it nice to be able to actually breathe through your nose again?

Bet food is already tasting better (or worse, but at least "more")

Hopefully going up and down steps is a little easier already.  Heck, you might even be able to go outside and run a block.

Go Po' go.

Go Po! Remember, it's all in your mind.... I quit cold turkey 12 years ago and never went back. You can do it!

It will have been a full 3 years for me on January 15 2013... when I went cold turkey and just stopped.  I had tried back in 2007, and managed to be smoke free for 9 months, but I went through a difficult period of anxiety and depression and foolishly started again.  Fortunately it was only for 6 months or so before I stopped again... and succeeded.

Anyhow, Po, you go for it, man, you'll be happier and healthier for it... not to mention having more money in your back pocket.

5 or 6 for me.....since quitting...I lost track.

I think 6, in May of 2013.

Po....you've saved yourself about $100 in a week.....$5,200 in a year ....that's a couple of return flights from Oz to the US.

It's all about the money.....

on Nov 03, 2012

I switched from commercial brands to rollies and that cut my consumption from one pack a day to less than a third. @ $3.70 every ten days as opposed to $50 bucks.....$46.30 saved every ten days for the last eight months......46.30 x 3 x 8 = $1,111.20 savings. It isn't quitting but its a start. Seems they're a lot less addictive because of all the 'preservatives' not added to it. Plus there's no real cravings. But that's just me.

Po...you may already know this but I'll mention it anyway, smoking is also linked to lower back pain.

In my case it definitely was. I quit about 8 years ago and while I'm not pain free, it has lessened a good bit. At least now it's manageable with medication that doesn't put me in the ozone layer.
