How's it workin for ya 3 years later?

Anyone better off?... that's a good one !

here's the good news.. Nov. 2012 isn't so far off... and I for one will look back on the 4 lost years of my life, and realize..

  ....I can finally breath again.

So... lastly, I am willing to go out on a limb, and a year ahead, predict.. , no, guarantee... a massive conservative victory...

......If I'm wrong... I'm sure a few of you will be back to remind me I posted this.

The Free Market will reign again.

                                                                                      Hope and change.. is.. coming.

in its most simplistic breakdown... G O V T... get the HELL out of my way, and life.

It's not a case of the irresistable force meeting the immoveable object...

It's a case of the immoveable object meeting a flea.

Only option is to find another country that suits the flea better.

Re US Politics I'm ambivalent....just so long as that Tina Fey wannabe doesn't end up Pres.  In that case the ANZUS treaty needs to go....

I'm all out of countries..

and Palin will never run, she risks losing her nightly spot on Greta Van Sustren.

I truly believe that when America falls... and.. it could... this planet.. is done.

No, the sky isn't falling, humanity is.....fast.

Man, I love my Timex Ironman watch.. the only watch I ever had, I haven't been able to destroy.

Hmm.. as suspected, this thread is not faring well, for the current 'leadership'

Lets talk again soon, I'm sure they just need a few more months.

It just may be a little early for folks to get all that interested in 2012.

Then again they may not give a hoot because we won't be around for any of it to matter..........December 21, 2012.

Understandable, but the post was actually just asking, who was better off, 3 years into hope and change.

I would have capitalized hope and change, I'm just weary I may get taxed over it.... or regulated... heh... even.. MODerated

Well, at least we all go down, knowing my prediction was correct

Not only that, she made a laughing stock of them last time, so the Repubs wouldn't sign off on her running for Senate Toilet Attendant, much less either of the top two jobs Washington has to offer.

And it's not just in the US.  Ask most Aussies, Brits, Kiwis, Europeans, they'll tell you that their patience with politicians is exasperated and they're living in despair with too much uncertainity surrounding their lives.

Me, I've given up stressing about it.  Doesn't matter which Part'ys in, which company's doing what, assholes will always be assholes and I have to make the best of what I've got.   I have no doubt that I'll be served up a few more shit sandwiches before they're done, so hopefully I can afford the thick sliced bread and some butter so I don't taste the filling quite so much.

Yes we are divided and divided we shall stay.

You are right about one thing V, I have a lot of anger in me. As I said this is a war.

Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon look like reasonable men compared to these Republicons. That's how bad it is.

Go ahead and say what you will about Wisconsin and Ohio. You should be scared. Despite Citizens United pouring in millions of dollars on advertising, thank you Supreme Court for letting corporations buy elections, the Dems won back 2 seats. In Ohio 1.3 million people signed a petition so that the Tea Party/Koch Brothers agenda there can be voted on and hopefully out.

Yes, say what you will about the Wall Street demonstrators being smelly hippies and Mike Moore. Moore has never hid the fact that he likes capitalism. He's benefited from it. I've benefited from it. As I said I am not a Socialist or a Communist. Moore points out the truth about a lot of things and has the guts to confront people. I admire his intelligence and wit. Compare that to the idiocy and lies of Glen Beck.

Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch and we all know what an honest company he runs. Wire tapping and computer hacking.

No I don't live in New Jersey, thank God. I live in a state that has a Republican Governor but he at least is somewhat reasonable. He is not a CON. I live in a district that has a Democratic member of the house who is a good honest man. In New Jersey, Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida the agenda is to privatize, bust the Unions and give it all away to the wealthy. Screw the middle class.

The Tea Party started out with good intentions but was quickly seized by powerful right wing forces that saw it as an instrument to chip away at the fundamental rights of the people. Destroy and privatize Social Security and Medicare. Strip away environmental regulations so that the Koch Brothers can pollute at will. Deny climate change. Deny science itself in order to advance an evil and greedy agenda. Koch has pored a lot of money into the Tea Party. Koch have a lot of Republicons in their pockets.

So go ahead talking about freedom and all that. In reality you are being played by rich powerful men who only care about lining their pockets with more profit.

Oh, I should mention one other thing. Thanks to George Bush I am not better off than I was 3 years ago. Bush was the worst President in American history. He did so much damage to our economy that it'll take many many years to recover from. We may never fully recover from the damage he caused. Wall Street, the banksters and the corporations said, "George, deregulate." George said "Ok Boys, go at it!" They did. The thieves took our money and ruined the economy. They took our future and the damage they have done is far from being repaired. They are crooks and liars.

I usually listen to NPR but at times the programing can be quite boring. I will, on occasion, switch to talk radio just for the heck of it and to make sure these idiots are still the idiots I love to hate. Driving home from the credit union (we're dropping BofA like a hot potato, moving all of our assets) I was listening to an ABC affiliate talk radio show that I thought was just totally nuts.

I was able to listen to only about 20 minutes but the garbage and hate filled gutter trash talk against the President was really appalling.

It got me to thinking about you John and a situation with my wife after 9/11. I had to sit her down and tell her no more watching the TV. It was really depressing her and making it difficult for her to breast feed Cooper (4 mos. old then). It took about a week for her to shake off the depression.

So, here's a challenge,

turn off that talk radio for a week. go visit friends and family, talk about regular stuff no politics and see if the world looks so bleak then.

I'm not saying that we, as a society, don't have some issues but life is not all bad. talk radio is brain washing in a wholly negative way.

Yup. The bottom didn't fall out of Wall Street during Obama's Tenure but during GB's. When those two mortgage houses went belly up they took the whole damn planet with them. At least one government fell and a few more are trying they're dammdest not to...Greece, Ireland, Portugal. This is what Obama has inherited. You show me any politico worth his salt, if there is such a thing, that will have an easy time trying to put all that back together. Think Humpty Dumpty.

No.

Please understand that no matter how egotistical you are...America is NOT 'the whole planet', damned or otherwise.

on Sep 30, 2011

America is NOT 'the whole planet', damned or otherwise.

True enough. Not every country was severely affected. Israel was not, but is now facing the protests of many years of social neglect.

I wonder why the two 'spheres' can't be more balanced in a society? Of course, 'balance' depends on where one's views are, doesn't it.

I think the "There goes humanity" is a bit exaggerated, John. We'll make out, and hopefully get to a more balanced society.

on Sep 30, 2011

.America is NOT 'the whole planet',

True. But you gotta admit a lot of countries suffered because of it. Some are still suffering. As for the rest.........IMO.....the people now are the ones finally albeit slowly raising their collective voices to be heard. They just need to be louder. Especially in one of the most corrupt countries on Earth. Unfortunately I live in it.

If you live in the USA, I'm sorry but the US isn't even close to the top(bottom) of the list. According to both Forbes and This site there are many countries that are worse. You are free to move to one  of those if you wish. I'll stay here in Illinois. Sure, the politicians here are crooks but they can't steal what I don't have.  Besides, things will get better once Gov Quinn sells the state to the Chinese. Maybe I can get a job making chopsticks too.

A Chicago Democrat for Pres? What the hell did we think we were going to get? Illinois has the best politicians  anyones money can buy.

Well he's gonna have to queue up, then.  We have a list of politicians and big business leaders as long as your arm - after it has been elongated on the rack for a month - all clamoring after the Chinese to sell them a slice or 3 of Australia.

We had a current affairs proggie on the other day, and I was totally gobsmacked to learn how may Australian assets and properties have changed hands to Chinese ownership... from entire farming communities to apartment blocks; factories; holiday resorts; basic houses to obscenely luxurious ones... and mining interests, of course.

Given how much has already been sold off to the US and the Japanese back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, it's a f**kin' wonder there's anything left to sell.
