Dreamed this up last night, more to follow....
..lots more...
Subject to change*
Pretty sure John has it handled and knows "pulling it off" just doesn't cut it.
This skin's graphics are really not suitable for tiling. The wear and tear of a gazillion light years is uneven... therefore must be as unique in each part as in the neighboring one... nothing would look worse than tiling, here.
John... this is without doubt your best yet. You nailed 3D with "Penthouse", and now... with "Andromeda", the look of weathered metal. As usual, your lighting is just...well, it couldn't be better.
Please keep challenging yourself this way. Honestly, this one, and the accompanying skins which will hopefully come with it just keep me coming back for more and more.
Thanks guys, I've just removed the textures, kept the lighting, I think it looks quite good without the textures...
perhaps deep space just shined her up, instead of breaking her down.
Will post some screenies shortly.
That's more like it!
john did you try to make a texture in a large scale like 1920x30 for frames caption and set it as layer not using any margins... i sended you a private message since i wasnt able to post- unsure if you got it thought about it and it may work without having repeated textures...if not im sorry but i guess its worth a try since trhe texture looks amazing
Yeah, I got ur PM and replied.... I had already taken this into consideration. Couple of problems with that...
1, The texture I made for this wasn't anywhere near that size, 0nly about 600x750 and took forever to make.
and 2. That will just cause reverse problems on small dialogs, when windows are resized small or small by default.. like RUN, Display properties, MSN etc..
XP is already 40% done, just going with a metallic look now... full steam ahead.
Cheers!
Since I already have the original mind sending me a psd or three
